Ciara's mum has described her daughter as the "ultimate princess" who loves hair and makeup, but after meeting another little girl who had lost her hair, the 11-year-old decided to take action.
"I know a wee girl who lost her hair with chemotherapy and everyone has been telling me for years that I could make a great wig out of my hair and the hairdresser told me that I actually could so I decided to do it," she explained.
Ciara will donate her hair to the Little Princess Trust, a charity that gives wigs to girls and boys who have lost their hair because of illness.
They have given away more than 1,200 wigs and hope they will help provide sick children with a self-esteem boost.
Around 12 inches will be trimmed from Ciara's locks and the P7 pupil said she is nervous about the chop.
"I can't believe that she's prepared to give up this hair," said her mum.
"It was her own idea, she googled it and came up with this trust which makes real hair wigs for sick children and she said 'That's what I'm going to do'."
