Isang magandang sorpresa para kay Ciara Sotto ang pagkakuha niya ng dalawang nominasyon sa 2011 BroadwayWorld (BWW) Philippines Awards.
Ang masigasig na theater actress ay na-nominate para sa mga kategoryang Best Leading Actress (Musical) at Best Performance by an Actress in a Featured Role/Ensemble Role (Musical).
Ang unang nominasyon ay mula sa kanyang pagganap sa Rent, habang ang sumunod ay para naman sa ginampanan niyang papepl sa Sweet Charity.
Ito ang kauna-unahang pagtatanghal ng BroadwayWorld Philippines Awards sa ating bansa.
Ang parangal na ito ay iginagawad sa mga pinakamahuhusay na personalidad sa larangan ng teatro.
Nagsimula ang nasabing parangal sa www.broadwayworld.comisang online site sa U.S. na naka-focus sa industriya ng teatro.
Taong 2008 noong inilunsad ang BroadwayWorld Awards sa U.S. at U.K.
UNEXPECTED. Nakausap ng PEP.ph (Philippine Entertainment Portal) si Ciara sa pamamagitan ng online chat noong isang araw, at sinabi nito na hindi raw talaga niya ine-expect na may ganitong award at nomination siyang matatanggap.
Ayon sa kanya, "I can't get over being nominated!
"Tapos double nomination pa, it will be very hard for me to move on from this. I'm so happy.
"I'm actually more than grateful already that I'm nominated at all. Parang enough na yun sa 'kin.
"But I hope I win kahit ano don'n.
!"Kasi pareho kong pinaghirapan yun. I gave my all and I learned a lot from both characters."
AWARDS BACKGROUND. Nakausap din ng PEP ang isa sa regional editors ng BroadwayWorld.com Philippines na siOliver Oliveros na naka-base ngayon sa New York.
Sa kanya namin nalaman na first time pala na magkakaroon ng BWW sa Pilipinas.
Ani Oliver, "It's our first time to do this for the Philippines, so hindi ko pa alam kung may actual na awarding because my bosses are based in New York.
"Nag-start ang BroadwayWorld Awards sa US and UK three years ago.
"Since maraming readers ay galing din sa Pilipinas, my editor in chief, Robert Diamond, had thought na ready na ang Pilipinas for the regional awards."
Ang BroadwayWorld Philippines Awards ay "audience choice awards."
Dito, ang mga manonood mismo ang binibigyan ng pagkakataong mag-nomina at bumoto sa kanilang mga paborito sa larangan ng teatro sa Pilipinas.
