Remember when trends from the '90s STAYED in the '90s? Ha! Just kidding, that never happens (see Doc Martens, ditsy florals, and velvet everything for proof). Cropped white turtlenecks may have been a thing of the past, but get ready...they're coming back and there's no stopping 'em. We first suspected something was up when Miley Cyrus sported the look last month at the iHeartRadio music festival, and now we've got an official trend resurgence on our hands. Just this morning Ciara premiered her new music video for "Got Me Good," wearing an unexpectedly retro-inspired crop top and flared pants. If the all-white ensemble looks a tad bit familiar, it's probably because our girl Britney Spears wore pretty much the EXACT SAME OUTFIT circa 1999.
Let us direct to you Brit's ! epic "Sometimes" music video from back in the day. Besides the fact that the then-teenager practically radiates wide-eyed innocence, it's impossible to ignore her sporty angelic outfit. She's rocking an abbreviated short-sleeved turtleneck, wide white trousers, and oldschool chunky sneakers. Now let's compare Britney's nostalgia-inducing look with Ciara's modern twist. Besides her sleeveless top and some key embellishments, these two outfits are basically identical. They pop stars EVEN share the same wind-swept waves, fresh-faced beauty...and killer abs, obviously. But don't just take our word for it. Watch Ciara's "Got Me Good" video below and let us know who does the '90s better!
