Ciara Andrews converted a pair of free throws with 4 seconds left to keep the visiting Cheltenham basketball team unbeaten this season and spoil a milestone performance by Upper Dublin's Taylor Bryant in a 50-48 Suburban One League win on Thursday night.
Bryant, a 5-foot-4 senior guard, reached the 1,000-point plateau by completing a three-point play in the third quarter, finishing with 16 points in the game and 1,008 for her four years.
The Panthers (15-0), ranked No. 5 in Southeastern Pennsylvania by The Inquirer, got 22 points from Andrews and 10 by Ming Seawright.
Ches-Mont. Senior guard Brittany Sicinski scored 16 points and became the first basketball player at Downingtown West to reach 1,000 career points since the Downingtown schools split 10 years ago, highlighting a 44-30 win over visiting Avon Grove.
Noelle Powell (19) helped West Chester Rustin build an 11-point halftime lead, and the Golden Knights held off host Oxford, 44-41.
Bicentennial. Jenkintown's defense allowed just two points in overtime and Ruby Westkaemper, scoreless in regulation, made three points in the extra period to win, 31-26, at Lower Moreland.
Catholic Academies. Villa Joseph Marie's Mary Newell and Courtney Shaw combined for 22 rebounds as the Jems edged visiting St. Basil, 36-34.
Sixth-ranked Mount St. Joseph got points from 10 players, including Cailin Schmeer with 14 and Alex Louin with 13, during a 64-27 win at Merion Mercy. Regan Gallagher grabbed 8 rebounds.
Kellie O'Rourke (18) and Lisa Mirarchi (16) sparked a 13-3 third-quarter run as Villa Maria pulled away from host Gwynedd-Mercy for a 48-33 triumph. Maddie McTigue claimed 8 rebounds for the Hurricanes.
Del-Val. Chichester erupted for a 32-17 second half, led by Haley Sipple (14) and Emily Gilhool (13), and knocked off visiting Cheste! r, 49-37 .
Nonleague. Cardinal O'Hara (12-1) returned from Ursuline Academy (9-3) with a 40-39 win over the Wilmington power. Shanice Johnson dropped in a layup off a pass from Mia Farmer at the buzzer.
Nazareth Academy had a pair of double-doubles in a 62-44 win at Penn Wood as Nicole Dombrowski notched 19 points and 13 rebounds, and Bridget Sobon chipped in with 11 points and 10 assists.
Sox Alexander scored 15 points, and Asia Baker added 13 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists for Shipley in a 51-40 victory at Life Center (N.J.).
